RESIDENTIAL HEAT PUMPS

Residential heat pumps are common in the low country due to mild winters where the temperatures rarely drop near or below freezing. They provide cool air during the hot months, but also provide heat during our colder winter months.  

A heat pump cools the way a standard air conditioner does – by using a refrigerant to absorb heat from your home and transfer it to the outside.  To provide heat, the system “runs in reverse” to extract heat energy from the outside and transfer it into your home.

It’s important to perform scheduled maintenance as recommended for proper airflow through the coil and keep the mechanical parts running smoothly. This will ensure your system is running at its most energy efficient.
